Shadow Birds in Raintree

Shadow Birds in Raintree

The rain today brought the birds to a tree outside my living room window. They stayed throughout the day.

Too much rain
loosens trees.
In the hills giant oaks
fall upon their knees.
You can touch parts
you have no right to—
places only birds
should fly to.
